I grew up watching my mother paint portraits. During lockdown I picked up a brush myself.
My mother is a portrait painter in Greece, so faces were always around me. In 2020 I bought textile paints and a second-hand denim jacket from a flea market and tried a portrait on it. No lessons, only hours of practice.
Today I paint for clients all over the world, and every piece is still painted by me, by hand.
GianniNo. I use professional textile paint, heat-set after painting. Wash the jacket inside out, cold, on a gentle cycle and let it air dry. Don't iron over the painting.
A sharp, well-lit photo where the face is clearly visible, ideally in daylight. Send a few if you're unsure, and I'll tell you which will paint best.
Yes. Send it to me and I'll paint it, and the price drops by the cost of the jacket. Dark or mid-wash denim works best.
A space of about 2×2 metres near a power socket, ideally where guests can walk past and watch. I bring the easel, lighting and paints. Travel outside Athens is quoted separately.
Two to four weeks ahead is ideal. For a sooner date, send the enquiry anyway and I'll tell you if it's possible.
Because each portrait is made for you alone, commissions can't be returned. You approve the photograph and placement before I begin. If anything arrives damaged, I'll make it right.
